College - Here We Come!
Homesick
- Call home - it always feels better to talk to a parent, friends or old teacher.
- Send an e-mail to a parent, friends or old teacher. I bet they'd love to hear from you just as much as you want to hear from them - maybe more.
- Local newspaper - have your local home newspaper delivered to your dorm room, mailbox or apartment.
- Go home for the holidays. There's nothing better than to sleep in your own bed again with all your memorable things around you. The smell of home!!
- Spend all or no less than 2 weeks at the end of summer at home. This is really important because it helps you get reacclimated before going back to school. Besides parents and siblings really miss you and they, too, need to be with you. They also get homesick for you.
- Go out with new friends. Spend some time at lunch, studying, after class, local hangout, etc. It's important to get to know your new surroundings and fellow students.
- As time goes on you will feel better and better. Remember to study, learn, prepare for your future but have a great, memorable and SAFE time at school. It can be the very best time of your life
